We (Jenny & Kenneth Keavey) started Green Earth Organics box delivery scheme in 2006. Our organic farm is situated 8 miles from Galway City. Originally the land was my grand-father's and then my father's and finally I took over the farm 14 years ago. I put the farm into conversion for organic status in 2004.
Slow and Steady. We raise slow maturing Bronze Turkeys and manage our land in keeping with traditions that have been handed down by the generations before us. All the time ensuring that our finished product gives our customer the best taste experience possible.
We have 50 acres of land around the farm. Here we grow all the fresh grass and silage that we feed to our goats. Haske mixes the meal, which is like muesli, for the goats himself so that we know exactly what they are eating.
In 1996 when Lough Boora Farm converted to organics, we began a horticultural enterprise to cover the cost of taking on a second person. We started with 1 ha of veg and 1 polytunnel. Twenty years on, we grow almost 5 has of veg annually including 7 large polytunnels. And the farm employes six on the horticultural side. Our focus is on direct selling of farm produce to the end consumer.
